> The platform will continue monitoring Layer 2 networks while expanding into areas including privacy, cross-chain interoperability, tokens and zero-knowledge proofs.

L2BEAT, an Ethereum Layer 2 data platform, has adopted the name ETHBEAT as its work broadens across the Ethereum ecosystem, while keeping Layer 2 monitoring among its core responsibilities.

ETHBEAT’s expanded scope includes privacy, cross-chain interoperability, tokens, zero-knowledge proofs, native rollups and changes to Ethereum’s base layer. Liquid staking is a planned addition. Layer 2 remains a major focus, though it is no longer the platform’s only area of coverage.

The project began more than five years ago to document the fast-growing Layer 2 sector. Its dashboards first tracked total value locked, then shifted to total value secured and added activity measures. ETHBEAT plans to apply its transparency and review methods across more of the Ethereum ecosystem and work with other Ethereum organizations.

That review includes examining the source code of deployed smart contracts to assess whether systems built on Ethereum deliver its security protections. The work is aimed at helping users understand what assurances those systems provide.

ETHBEAT has introduced a CROPS guide covering projects that resist censorship, keep their software open source, and prioritize privacy and security. Its broader mission is to help users rely less on intermediaries and understand whom they must trust, what those parties can do, and whether users can still exit if other participants leave.
