> The proposal covers 23.86 million POL tied to Polymarket and 46.63 million tied to Binance. If approved, client work and testnet exercises are expected to take about two weeks.

A Polygon Labs validator support team member has proposed a Polygon PoS hard fork to move 70.49 million stolen POL to recovery addresses, putting a network-level intervention before governance.

The Polygon Improvement Proposal (PIP) would transfer balances from attacker addresses to recovery addresses designated and verified by Polymarket and Binance. The proposed move would leave POL’s total supply unchanged, redirecting existing balances rather than issuing replacement tokens.

About 23.86 million POL is tied to the Polymarket incident, while Binance accounts for about 46.63 million. The combined 70.49 million POL was valued at roughly $6.5 million using Oct. 29 prices. Block producers currently restrict the funds from moving.

The proposal was set for discussion at a Polygon protocol governance meeting Thursday, Nov. 5. If approved, client development and testnet exercises are expected to take about two weeks. The transfer remains subject to the governance decision and has not been described as completed.
