> The snapshot showed 88.26% of assets in cold storage and 11.74% in hot wallets; Gate introduced a broader security framework alongside the figures.

Gate introduced its Proof of Security framework alongside a snapshot showing cold-storage coverage at 104.58% of user assets at 7 p.m. ET Nov. 3 (00:00 UTC Nov. 4).

The snapshot showed 88.26% of assets in cold storage and 11.74% in hot wallets. Under the calculation used, cold-held assets alone would cover all user assets even if every asset in hot wallets were lost.

Gate’s Proof of Security (PoSEC) framework extends security verification beyond reserve adequacy to cover asset storage and coverage under extreme-risk scenarios. The exchange’s security measures also include separating cold and hot wallets, multisignature controls, multiparty computation and dynamic risk monitoring.

Gate introduced an open-source proof-of-reserves approach in 2020. Its CEO has also made an [earlier call for a crypto security alliance](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/44324>).

Gate said independent third-party verification of the latest figures was underway when it introduced PoSEC. It plans to publish a report on its website after verification is complete.
