> Third Eye CEO Tian Zeng favors settlement in one hour. FalconX’s Joshua Lim says some institutions are less willing to accept the risks of irreversible transactions.

A security incident involving Binance has renewed discussion among crypto market participants about settlement delays and transaction reviews as the industry seeks a larger role in U.S. financial markets.

Banks, payment networks and clearinghouses in traditional finance review suspicious transfers and can sometimes interrupt the movement of funds. Some institutional investors are reconsidering similar safeguards for crypto markets.

Tian Zeng, CEO of crypto hedge fund Third Eye, favors completing settlement in one hour, compared with the one-day timeline he cited for traditional finance. Zeng supports adding settlement time and review steps, arguing they could make it harder for hackers to move funds quickly.

Joshua Lim, co-head of markets at FalconX, said the crypto customer base is changing as more institutions enter the market. Some institutions are less willing to accept the risks of irreversible transactions.

The discussion highlights a trade-off between transaction speed, decentralization and fund security as crypto becomes more integrated with traditional finance.
