Airbnb plans to start rolling out an AI trip-planning agent to guests in the first half of 2027, bringing travel research, booking actions and in-trip assistance into its platform. The target marks the planned start of a rollout; no exact date or pace has been set.

The planned agent is designed to respond to what guests are looking for with a travel-focused interface. It can draw from hundreds of elements, including maps, photos, itineraries, calendars and comparisons, and assemble them in real time as guests plan. Guests are meant to use the tools to explore options, make decisions with travel companions and act within Airbnb.

The intended help also extends to tasks during a trip. Guests may use the agent for reservation changes, payment problems, refund requests and rebooking, as well as access to 24-hour safety support. Airbnb has not specified which of these functions will be available when the rollout begins.

The longer-term scope includes trip planning across homes, hotels, services and experiences. Those categories are part of Airbnb’s plans over time; the company has not provided dates for adding them.

The trip agent is a further development of Airbnb’s existing search and listing tools. Guests can search using natural-language or voice requests, view listing summaries and compare homes they have saved.

Separately, Airbnb’s existing AI support assistant resolved about 40% of customer-support issues without a human agent in Q3 2026, compared with one-third in Q2. That figure concerns the support assistant, not the planned trip-planning agent.
