> Warnings identify at least 18 malicious websites and more than 20 affected wallets.

Security researchers and crypto commentators have warned that DarkSword, an iOS exploit kit, is being used to target crypto users through compromised websites, with losses reaching as much as $5.57 million across more than 20 wallets.

The warnings identify at least 18 malicious sites and describe an attack that exploits a flaw in iOS 18. Researchers say simply visiting an infected page in Safari can trigger malicious code to run in the background. The method does not require a user to connect a wallet or approve a transaction. The toolkit can access passwords, photos and files, as well as private keys and recovery phrases for crypto wallets.

赵长鹏 urged users to update iOS, especially if their devices have not been updated for some time. He said wallet apps cannot install operating-system updates on a user's behalf and characterized self-custody as a responsibility that includes keeping the phone's software current.

The warning centers the phone's operating system as an exposure point even when no wallet interaction takes place.
