Flare Network has officially launched USD₮0, an omnichain deployment of the world's largest stablecoin, USDT. Powered by LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) technology, USD₮0 enables seamless, gasless transfers across major blockchains like Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Sei, and now Flare, without relying on wrapped tokens or third-party bridges.
With USD₮0 live, Flare aims to directly connect the $140 billion USDT market to XRP, the second-largest non-smart contract asset. This strategic move enhances liquidity and opens new opportunities for XRP DeFi projects, including FXRP and liquid-staked XRP assets. Since its launch in January, more than $2 billion worth of USD₮0 has been bridged on-chain, highlighting rapid adoption as a DeFi liquidity standard.
Flare users can now send stablecoin transactions at zero cost, significantly lowering remittance and crypto payment barriers. Additionally, USD₮0 holders can access the USD₮0 Boost program, offering up to 30% APY paid in rFLR tokens through institutional-grade liquidity platforms like SparkDEX and Kinetic.
Hugo Philion, Co-Founder and CEO of Flare, emphasized the importance of a globally accessible, highly liquid stablecoin for DeFi growth, stating, "USD₮0 unifies liquidity across chains and establishes a robust capital base essential for XRP DeFi."
Existing bridged USDT holders can easily migrate to USD₮0 using the Flare Portal migration tool. With faster, more capital-efficient transfers compared to traditional bridges, USD₮0 strengthens Flare’s role as a key player in cross-chain interoperability and DeFi expansion.
