US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a sharp reversal on April 27, recording $263 million in net outflows and snapping a nine-day streak of positive inflows. This sudden pullback comes after a strong prior week, during which Bitcoin exchange-traded funds جذب approximately $767 million in new capital, signaling a shift in short-term institutional sentiment toward crypto assets.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the largest spot Bitcoin ETF, did not directly drive the outflows. However, its performance highlights a broader trend: IBIT has experienced largely flat net flows over the past six months. This stagnation comes despite Bitcoin (BTC) trading near recent highs, though still below the key $80,000 psychological resistance level. The lack of consistent inflows suggests that institutional demand for passive Bitcoin exposure may be cooling.
Meanwhile, US spot Ethereum ETFs also faced pressure, collectively posting $50.48 million in net outflows on the same day. Nearly all Ethereum funds recorded withdrawals, reflecting cautious investor behavior. However, BlackRock’s staked Ethereum ETF, ETHB, stood out as the only product to attract fresh inflows. This divergence indicates growing interest in yield-generating crypto investment products, particularly as Ethereum staking rewards become more attractive.
Solana ETFs followed a similar pattern, logging a modest $1.21 million in net outflows despite maintaining a positive weekly trend. Across the broader crypto ETF landscape, the seven-day net flow for Bitcoin ETFs remains positive at $283 million, suggesting that the recent outflow may be a temporary correction rather than a long-term reversal.
The contrast between stagnant Bitcoin ETF flows and selective inflows into yield-focused products like ETHB signals a potential shift in institutional strategy. Investors appear to be rotating capital toward assets that offer passive income opportunities, rather than relying solely on price appreciation. As the second quarter progresses, this evolving preference could reshape demand dynamics across crypto ETFs.
