Metaplanet Acquires Siiibo Securities to Expand Bitcoin Financial Services

Metaplanet (TSE: 3350), one of Japan’s leading bitcoin treasury companies, has announced the acquisition of Siiibo Securities, a Tokyo-based Type I Financial Instruments Business Operator, in a transaction valued at approximately 2.1 billion yen ($13.1 million). The deal represents a significant milestone in Metaplanet’s long-term strategy to build a comprehensive bitcoin-focused financial ecosystem.

Upon completion of the acquisition, Siiibo Securities will become a wholly owned subsidiary and will operate under the new name, Metaplanet Securities. The move marks the first major initiative under “Project Nova,” a strategic plan designed to expand Metaplanet’s role in digital finance and develop innovative bitcoin-related financial products.

Metaplanet currently holds 40,177 BTC, valued at roughly $2.6 billion as of May 31, reinforcing its position as a major corporate bitcoin holder. The company views bitcoin as more than a treasury reserve asset, seeing it as the foundation for next-generation financial services and investment opportunities.

Siiibo Securities brings valuable experience in corporate bond issuance and distribution through its online platform. The firm has facilitated more than 100 bond offerings for over 40 companies, establishing a strong reputation in Japan’s securities market. Metaplanet believes Siiibo’s regulatory licenses, industry expertise, and existing customer network will accelerate its expansion into digital assets, tokenized finance, and bitcoin-linked investment solutions.

The acquisition is expected to create several strategic advantages. Metaplanet plans to develop bitcoin-backed and bitcoin-linked financial products, enhance securities distribution capabilities, and explore the issuance of tokenized financial instruments. The company also aims to utilize Siiibo’s technology platform to introduce new yield-generating investment opportunities for both retail and institutional investors.

As Japan’s digital asset sector continues to evolve, Metaplanet expects the integration of Siiibo Securities to strengthen its market position and support the development of a broader bitcoin financial ecosystem.
