Bitget is celebrating its eighth anniversary by accelerating its expansion beyond cryptocurrency, with its Universal Exchange (UEX) strategy set to drive the trading platform’s next phase of growth.
Over the past year, Bitget has broadened its product lineup to include stock perpetual contracts, U.S. stock options and Hong Kong stock Quanto contracts. Non-crypto assets have accounted for as much as 40% of total trading volume, while both traditional finance perpetual contracts and CFDs have exceeded $10 billion in daily volume.
Tokenized traditional assets are also becoming an important part of Bitget’s ecosystem. Its rToken product surpassed $100 million in assets under management within five weeks of launching and has processed more than 3 million transactions. Bitget said approximately one-quarter of new users now begin trading through rToken.
Artificial intelligence is another pillar of the UEX strategy. The exchange recently launched AI Playbook, an autonomous trading agent that provides access to AI-assisted trading strategies.
CEO Gracy Chen said crypto and traditional financial markets are increasingly converging as AI reshapes trading and institutional participation accelerates. She described UEX as Bitget’s approach to this evolving market and said the company’s next chapter would extend well beyond crypto.
As Bitget adds more asset classes, security, compliance and trading infrastructure are receiving greater attention. The exchange plans to expand its Proof of Reserves coverage from four assets to 24 verifiable assets. Its Protection Fund averaged approximately $382 million in value during August 2026.
Institutional trading is another major growth area. Net assets held by institutional clients increased 45% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the end of 2025. The number of core active market makers also climbed from 90 to 248 firms.
Entering its ninth year, Bitget plans further investment in APIs, execution infrastructure, quantitative trading tools, institutional services and cross-asset accounts. Its UEX model ultimately aims to combine cryptocurrency, traditional financial markets and AI-powered trading within a single platform, strengthening Bitget’s position as it expands beyond its original crypto-focused business.
