JR Kyushu plans to launch a branded financial app during fiscal 2027, using infrastructure from SBI Holdings and expanding beyond banking into securities and crypto assets.

The Japanese railway operator would initially offer banking services through an agency model. The app could later add access to securities and crypto assets as its financial-product lineup grows.

JR Kyushu also plans to connect the app with SUGOCA, its transportation IC card, and JR Qupo, its points program. Users could receive points based on deposit balances and other factors.

The company is evaluating whether points earned through railway-related and other activities could be used to buy stocks or invest in funds.
