Island Raises $400 Million at $6.4 Billion Valuation
The Dallas-based browser security company will expand research, international operations and its workforce as demand grows for defenses against rogue artificial intelligence agents.

Island raised $400 million at a $6.4 billion valuation as demand grows for tools that protect businesses from rogue artificial intelligence agents and browser-based security threats.
Evolution Equity Partners led the financing. Island plans to direct the proceeds toward research and development and expansion into Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The Dallas-based company also plans to increase its workforce from 1,000 employees to 1,500 by mid-2027, Island CEO and co-founder Mike Fey said.
“Every old control is breaking, so everything’s up for grabs,” Fey said. “I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s a very special time.”
Island develops an enterprise browser that allows businesses to monitor and control activity inside the browser. Its customers include Pfizer, Chipotle, American Airlines and major banks.
Browsers have become a target for hackers seeking sensitive information, particularly as employees work across hybrid environments. Fey said Island is focused on providing the capabilities needed for safe, secure and productive work for the future workforce.
The financing comes as businesses strengthen defenses against rogue artificial intelligence agents and debate the direction of artificial intelligence regulation in Washington and Silicon Valley. Island competes with Palo Alto Networks and startups pursuing opportunities in the expanding AI security market.
Fey said the crowded market is forcing businesses to reconsider their security architecture as their technology stacks become more complex. Island is positioning its broader platform as a way for companies to improve productivity while simplifying their toolset.
“It’s really simple: Have a much better product,” Fey said. “That’s your only option, and that’s what we’ve done.”
