Nu Holdings Launches U.S. Products With Stablecoin Payment Support
The offering includes a 3.50% APY account, transfers and credit products, while Nu Global supports USDC and EURC balances across more than 35 countries.

Nu Holdings began U.S. operations Sept. 10 with banking, payment and credit products that combine a high-yield account with stablecoin-based international transfers.
The U.S. Nu Account offers a 3.50% annual percentage yield, savings tools, domestic and international transfers and a credit card with unlimited 1.5% cashback.
Deposits are held through Lead Bank, an FDIC-insured partner institution. Nu is entering the U.S. through a partner-bank model while pursuing its own national bank charter.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted preliminary conditional approval for Nubank, National Association, on Jan. 29, 2026. The proposed bank cannot begin operating under the charter until it completes preopening requirements and receives deposit-insurance approval.
Nu Global is designed for international use. It converts balances into USD Coin (USDC) or EURC and offers a 3.50% annual percentage yield on digital dollars and 2.20% on digital euros. Transfers are available across more than 35 countries in Europe and Latin America.
Customers can also access selected digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). The launch therefore gives U.S. users access to conventional financial products alongside stablecoin-based payment tools.
Nu co-founder and CEO David Vélez said the company expects even limited U.S. adoption to have a major effect on its business.
“Capturing even a small share of the U.S. market will be transformative for our business,” Vélez said.
Nu’s next banking milestone is completion of the OCC’s preopening conditions and approval for deposit insurance, after which the proposed national bank could begin operating under its charter.
