Sequans Communications has sold its remaining 314 Bitcoin (BTC), ending a treasury strategy that once held more than 3,200 BTC and allowing the French semiconductor company to refocus on its core businesses.

The exit followed the redemption of Sequans’ convertible debt in May. The company said it now holds no cryptocurrency and has no outstanding debt beyond government-financed research and development obligations.

Sequans launched the strategy in June 2025 after announcing a $384 million sale of equity securities and convertible secured debentures. At the time, CEO Georges Karam called Bitcoin “a premier asset and a compelling long-term investment.”

The company later began reducing its holdings, selling 970 BTC in November to redeem half of its convertible debt. In May 2026, Sequans said it was no longer pursuing the treasury strategy and would sell its remaining Bitcoin over time.

Karam said Sequans used the Bitcoin sales to eliminate its convertible debt and strengthen its balance sheet. The company will now concentrate on cellular internet-of-things and software-defined radio operations.
