BitGo launched a research unit led by former NYDIG Global Head of Research Greg Cipolaro on Sept. 24, adding market analysis to its institutional custody, trading, financing and settlement operations.

BitGo Research will publish market commentary, thematic reports and data-driven analysis for institutional clients. Its coverage will include digital asset markets, market structure, macroeconomic trends and broader industry developments.

The announcement was published at 8 a.m. ET (12 p.m. UTC). BitGo is a publicly traded company under the ticker BTGO and provides custody, wallets, staking, trading, financing, stablecoins and settlement services.

The research will draw on BitGo’s operations across custody, trading, financing and settlement. Cipolaro had already published research under BitGo’s name by Sept. 22, including work on Federal Reserve policy, regulation and Bitcoin’s market response.

BitGo acquired NYDIG’s institutional trading business and related assets on Aug. 28. The transaction brought approximately 30 NYDIG employees to BitGo and added derivatives and financing capabilities.

“Greg is a widely respected voice in digital asset research, and bringing his expertise in-house allows us to offer clients an even deeper level of market insight,” BitGo CEO and co-founder Mike Belshe said.

“BitGo sits at the intersection of custody, trading, and financing for some of the largest institutional participants in this market, which gives BitGo Research a vantage point that's hard to replicate,” Cipolaro said.

“Greg's research was a core part of what made our institutional trading franchise valuable to clients,” said Pete Janney, BitGo’s head of financial infrastructure.
