Binance Delistings Put Low FDV and Open Interest Under the Lens
The exchange removed 42 spot tokens and 28 U.S.-dollar-margined perpetual contracts through Aug. 11, 2026, with low FDV and open interest linked to higher removal rates.

Binance removed 42 spot tokens and 28 U.S.-dollar-margined perpetual contracts through Aug. 11, 2026, with low fully diluted valuation and open interest associated with higher removal rates.
The 42 spot removals already exceeded the number recorded in any full year since 2022. Delisting announcements arrived about once every 28 days in 2026, compared with every 52 days in 2025.
Spot and perpetual markets showed different removal patterns. Spot delistings increasingly affected older tokens, while perpetual-contract removals focused on newer launches.
Of the 42 tokens removed from spot markets, 31 had been listed in 2021 or earlier. The median lifespan of spot tokens at removal rose from 4.1 years in 2022 to 5.1 years in 2026.
All 28 removed perpetual contracts had launched since 2024, including 23 launched in 2025. Their median lifespan fell from 1.3 years in 2022 to 0.8 years in 2026.
Bucket comparisons showed larger differences in delisting rates by fully diluted valuation, or FDV, than by average daily trading volume. Among spot tokens, 49% of assets with FDV below $10 million were removed in 2026, while none above $100 million were removed.
The median FDV was $10.53 million for removed tokens and $56.88 million for tokens that remained listed. Average daily volume produced a narrower separation: Spot tokens with volume between $1 million and $3 million still had a 10.6% removal rate.
Open interest, or OI, showed a similar pattern for perpetual contracts. Contracts with OI below $1 million had a 31% removal rate, while none above $20 million were removed. Median OI was $1.21 million among removed contracts and $3.13 million among those that remained listed.
Trading volume was less consistent as a measure. Perpetual contracts with more than $100 million in daily volume still had a 2.8% removal rate.
The sectors affected also varied between the two markets. DeFi accounted for 16 of the 42 spot removals, followed by Gaming/NFT with nine. Infrastructure, Layer 1 and Layer 2 projects accounted for eight, while DePIN/Data projects accounted for five.
Among perpetual contracts, Infrastructure, Layer 1 and Layer 2 projects accounted for 10 removals. DeFi and meme tokens each accounted for four.
Binance’s distribution channels did not ensure continued listings. Eleven of the 42 delisted spot tokens had come through Launchpool or Launchpad. Binance Alpha Spotlight accounted for 63% of the 28 perpetual contracts removed.
The figures cover 144 historical spot delistings and 150 contract delistings from Feb. 17, 2022, through Aug. 11, 2026.
