Strategy Announces 1,665-Bitcoin Purchase Amid Supply Debate
The purchase adds to corporate Bitcoin accumulation, but available disclosures do not show that treasury buyers caused exchange withdrawals or that buying is accelerating marketwide.
Strategy announced the purchase of 1,665 Bitcoin (BTC) on Sept. 28, adding to corporate accumulation while market participants examine whether lower exchange-held balances reflect a lasting reduction in available supply.
Strategy’s Bitcoin ledger showed 846,000 BTC held as of Sept. 21, following the acquisition of 950 BTC at an average price of $79,670. The company’s latest purchase is a separate announcement and does not establish that corporate buying caused any movement in exchange balances.
Strive also disclosed Bitcoin purchases during 2026. The company acquired 6,236 BTC during the quarter ended June 30 and 12,237 BTC during the first six months of the year. It reported an additional purchase of 303 BTC from July 1 through Aug. 7.
Those disclosures confirm buying by two companies but do not establish a marketwide acceleration in Bitcoin treasury accumulation. They also do not identify the owners of coins leaving exchange-attributed wallets.
Exchange-balance measures cover Bitcoin held in wallets linked to centralized exchanges. A decline can reflect transfers to self-custody, institutional custody, corporate treasuries or wallets that are later reclassified. The movement alone does not show whether the coins were sold, who received them or whether they permanently left the market.
Matthew Cole, Strive’s chairman and chief executive officer, said, “Today, Strive stands debt-free, with zero margin requirements, and zero encumbered Bitcoin.”
The corporate purchases provide additional context for Bitcoin’s supply dynamics, but the available company disclosures do not connect them to specific exchange withdrawals.
