KB Kookmin Bank, BNY Sign Digital-Asset Payments MOU
The partnership will focus on cross-border payments and remittances for foreign nationals and international students, using BNY’s global payments network and “Pay to Wallet” capability.

KB Kookmin Bank and Bank of New York Mellon (BNY) signed a strategic memorandum of understanding at SIBOS 2026 to develop cross-border digital-asset payment and remittance services.
The partnership will target foreign nationals and international students, with KB Kookmin Bank planning to use BNY’s global payments network and “Pay to Wallet” capability for overseas remittance services.
The banks also plan to connect their foreign-exchange and settlement networks as they explore cooperation in digital payments, digital assets and next-generation financial infrastructure.
The MOU establishes a framework for planned cooperation between the South Korean bank and BNY, a major U.S. financial institution. The parties’ work will focus on developing services and linking infrastructure across borders.
