Binance Opens HYPE Spot Trading, Excluding U.S. Residents
Trading began Sept. 24 across three pairs, while Changpeng Zhao said competition between centralized and decentralized exchanges can expand crypto adoption.

Binance opened spot trading for Hyperliquid (HYPE) on Sept. 24, but residents of the United States and its territories were barred from the new markets under the exchange’s regional restrictions.
Trading began at 7 a.m. ET (11:00 UTC) across HYPE/USDT, HYPE/USDC and HYPE/TRY pairs. Binance set the listing fee at 0 BNB and applied its Seed Tag to HYPE, identifying it as a relatively new token with higher risk and potential for high price volatility.
The exchange scheduled withdrawals for Sept. 25 at 7 a.m. ET (11:00 UTC), while noting that the timing was an estimate. Seed Tag assets also require users to complete risk quizzes every 90 days on applicable spot or margin platforms.
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said competition between centralized exchanges and decentralized exchanges can expand the overall crypto market rather than simply shift activity between venues. “We view exchanges as helping to grow the pie,” Zhao said.
Zhao put crypto ownership at 5% to 15% of people and said digital assets account for less than 1% of net-worth allocation.
