Citi Brings Stablecoin Payments Into Corporate Accounts With Coinbase
Businesses can receive and settle USD Coin through Citi’s Spring platform and Coinbase’s Virtual Accounts without directly managing crypto assets.

Citi and Coinbase are expanding stablecoin payment services for corporate clients, giving businesses a way to receive and settle USD Coin (USDC) without directly holding or managing crypto assets.
Citi’s institutional clients will be able to accept stablecoin payments through Spring by Citi. Coinbase will handle the stablecoin payment rails, while incoming USDC will be converted into fiat currency for settlement.
The partnership also covers Coinbase Virtual Accounts. Citi’s Virtual Account Wallet will support accounts that accept, hold and send fiat currencies, with incoming funds automatically converted into stablecoins.
The initial rollout is focused on the United States and targets multinational companies and institutional clients seeking cross-border settlement without adding crypto wallets or private-key management to their operations.
Citi and Coinbase first began exploring digital payment services in October 2025. The expanded arrangement places stablecoin settlement inside existing corporate payment infrastructure, while clients continue to receive fiat balances in their accounts.
