Coinbase Sets Oct. 1 Deribit Migration With 60-Minute Downtime
Institutional clients will have orders canceled, balances transferred and positions recreated as Coinbase consolidates its derivatives business on Deribit.

Coinbase will move derivatives trading from International Exchange to Deribit on Oct. 1, a change expected to interrupt service for institutional clients for about an hour.
All open orders on International Exchange will be canceled. Positions will be settled at the mark price, balances will transfer to new Deribit subaccounts and positions will be recreated at the same settlement price through matched migration trades.
The move also requires changes to clients’ trading systems. Existing International Exchange API keys will not work on Deribit, so clients must create new Deribit keys and update their API endpoints.
Coinbase plans to use Deribit as the venue for its global derivatives business, combining liquidity and derivatives infrastructure from both platforms. The company completed its acquisition of Deribit on Aug. 14, 2025.
Institutional accounts will become view-only on International Exchange after the migration, while trading activity continues through the new Deribit accounts. The transition is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2026.
