Aerodrome and Velodrome Plan 2026 Merger Under Aero
The proposed combination would connect liquidity and incentive governance across Base, Optimism and Ethereum mainnet.

Aerodrome Finance and Velodrome Finance plan to combine under the Aero name in 2026, creating a unified liquidity layer designed to connect trading and incentive governance across Ethereum-aligned networks.
Aerodrome operates as a decentralized exchange and liquidity hub on Base. Velodrome operates on the Optimism Superchain. Both use vote-escrowed token systems, in which users lock tokens to gain governance rights and influence how liquidity incentives are distributed.
The proposed structure would bring those functions across Base, Optimism and Ethereum mainnet. Aero is intended to create a common framework for liquidity and governance across the participating networks, but the merger has not been completed.
The 2026 plan would place Aerodrome and Velodrome under the Aero name and incorporate MetaDEX03 into the protocol design.
The plan calls for an initial AERO supply of 500 million tokens, including 200 million AERO earmarked for an airdrop to veVELO lockers. VELO is Velodrome’s token, while AERO would represent the combined project.
The planned Oct. 21 launch is the next concrete milestone for the merger. The 2026 timeline is confirmed, but the official plan does not provide a more specific launch date.
Aerodrome launched Aug. 28, 2023, without venture-capital backing or token sales. The proposed combination is intended to bring the two projects’ liquidity operations and vote-escrowed governance systems into one protocol structure.
Aero’s next step is the planned Oct. 21 launch across the participating networks.
