SoftBank Completes $10 Billion OpenAI Investment, Reaches 13% Stake
The final tranche brings SoftBank’s cumulative investment in OpenAI to about $64.6 billion.
SoftBank Group Corp. completed a $10 billion final investment in OpenAI on Thursday, bringing its cumulative funding of the artificial intelligence company to about $64.6 billion and its ownership stake to approximately 13%.
The investment was made through SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and represents the third and final tranche of a previously announced $30 billion follow-on commitment.
SoftBank financed the latest investment with proceeds from foreign-currency senior bonds announced Sept. 24.
