Google is nearing a multiyear nuclear power agreement with Constellation that could be worth at least $1 billion, adding to competition among technology companies for electricity to run data centers.

The agreement may be announced as early as this week. Its potential value is expected to reach or exceed $1 billion.

The talks follow a similar agreement between Amazon and Constellation last week. Amazon agreed to buy 690 megawatts of electricity, including new capacity tied to upgrades at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant in Maryland.
