Samsung Electronics expects third-quarter operating profit to jump 783% from a year earlier as surging demand for artificial intelligence chips lifts its memory business, underscoring the strength of the global technology supply chain.
The South Korean company projected operating profit of 107.4 trillion won, or about $80.2 billion, for the quarter. The figure is 20.01% higher than in the previous quarter and slightly above analyst expectations.
Revenue is expected to reach 195 trillion won, up 127% year over year. Samsung’s preliminary results point to sharply improved profitability in memory products used to support AI computing.
