Samsung Electronics estimated third-quarter operating profit at 107.4 trillion won, or about $80.17 billion, as demand for artificial-intelligence chips drove a 782.5% year-over-year increase.

The preliminary result marks the company’s fourth consecutive quarterly record and exceeded the 106.1 trillion-won market forecast. Revenue was estimated at 195 trillion won, up 126.6% from the same period a year earlier.

Samsung’s results point to continued strength in memory chips used in AI infrastructure. Demand for DRAM, NAND flash and high-bandwidth memory has outpaced production expansion, pushing prices higher.

The company is expected to release its full earnings report, including performance by business division, later in October.
