Abstract plans to shut down its Ethereum layer-2 network on Dec. 15, 2026, while Coinbase prepares to revive Coinbase Pro by year-end in two major changes to crypto infrastructure and exchange services.

Users with assets on Abstract must move them before the closure through the network’s Migration Hub or native bridge. The bridge is expected to impose a delay of about three hours. Assets left on the network after the deadline may no longer be accessible.

Abstract attributed the decision to stalled growth, limited decentralized finance activity, weak on-chain liquidity, low institutional participation and a smaller budget than competing networks. Its engineering and ecosystem teams will help projects migrate to other chains.

Coinbase has completed the integration of Deribit, the options exchange it acquired last year, and plans to use the combined platform to connect U.S. and global crypto derivatives markets through a regulated liquidity pool.

The planned Coinbase Pro relaunch would cover spot trading, futures, perpetual contracts, options and stocks. Coinbase also plans to offer spot-margin trading with leverage of up to 10 times. Non-U.S. eligible traders are expected to receive options access in the coming weeks, with U.S. retail access planned for later this year.
