Manus Raises More Than $500 Million After Meta Deal Collapse
The funding gives the AI-agent developer fresh capital as it resumes independent operations following the blocked acquisition.

Manus has raised more than $500 million in its first funding round since Meta abandoned its acquisition, giving the AI-agent developer fresh capital amid heightened technology tensions between China and the United States.
Butterfly Effect, Manus’ parent company, said Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the round. Existing shareholders Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund also invested.
The company did not disclose its valuation. The financing follows Beijing’s decision to block Meta’s roughly $2 billion acquisition of Manus, after Meta had begun integrating the startup’s team and technology.
Manus resumed independent operations earlier this month. Its founding team is continuing to develop generative AI agents for users globally.
Since the split, Manus has introduced Manus 2.0, built on an in-house execution system called Cascade. It also launched Cue, a standalone personal-agent app that gives each agent its own email address, phone number and mobile wallet.
The raise comes as AI-agent startups compete amid improving foundation models and intensifying price pressure.
