Tab Emerges From Stealth at $300 Million Valuation With AI Assistant
The startup lets users complete tasks through iMessage or WhatsApp while keeping card data inaccessible and requiring confirmation for irreversible actions.

Tab has emerged from stealth at a $300 million valuation, bringing an AI assistant to messaging apps for users who want it to handle everyday tasks on their behalf.
The company did not disclose how much it raised. Its investors include SV Angel, Valar Ventures and American Spirit.
Founded earlier this year by Brennan Erbz, Stafford Schlitt and Ammar Amdani, Tab lets users send text instructions through iMessage or WhatsApp. The assistant can order groceries, book travel and select gifts.
Tab uses its own phone number, computer and wallet to complete actions for users rather than simply explaining how to perform them.
The company says it does not use user data to train AI models. Bank-card information is stored in a vault that Tab cannot access, and actions that cannot be reversed require confirmation from the user.
Ammar Amdani said Tab is currently growing mainly through word of mouth and plans to launch a new product soon.
