Harness Acquires Augment Assets to Link AI Coding and Deployment
The deal adds Cosmos, Auggie command-line tools and the Code Context Engine as Harness expands AI automation across software delivery.

Harness acquired select assets from Augment Code Computing Inc. and will bring Augment’s team into the company, adding AI coding and maintenance tools to its software-delivery platform.
The deal, announced Oct. 8, includes Augment’s Cosmos platform, Auggie command-line products, Code Context Engine and related technologies. The purchase price, transaction structure and closing date were not disclosed.
Cosmos will become Harness Cosmos Software Factory, an offering designed to automate engineering work from an idea through code creation. The planned system is an “idea to deployment” workflow spanning coding, testing, security, deployment and operations through AI agents.
“Right now, turning an idea into code and taking that code to production are two separate jobs, and someone has to manually steer every step in between,” Harness co-founder and CEO Jyoti Bansal said.
Customers will be able to continue using their existing coding tools, adopt Harness Cosmos or use both. Joining Harness is intended to make engineering work more automatic while keeping engineers involved where judgment is needed.
Harness launched Autonomous Worker Agents in June 2026 as AI agents operating within software-delivery pipelines. The acquisition adds Augment’s code-generation and code-maintenance capabilities to Harness’s tools for delivery, security and operations.
Augment’s Cosmos platform is designed to coordinate software work from specification to verification, including code, review, deployment and monitoring workflows. The combined product is expected to extend Harness’s automation from software delivery into more of the engineering process.
