Malaysia Projects RM32 Billion Petronas Payment to Government for 2027
The projected payment would rise 18.5% from Malaysia’s RM27 billion estimate for 2026 as total federal revenue is forecast to reach RM380.8 billion.

Malaysia’s Finance Ministry projects that Petronas will provide RM32 billion to the federal government in 2027, an 18.5% increase that would make it the largest investment-income contribution within projected non-tax revenue.
The payment estimate is RM5 billion higher than the ministry’s RM27 billion estimate for 2026. It is a government fiscal projection, not a separately announced Petronas board approval.
Malaysia expects total federal revenue to reach RM380.8 billion in 2027, up 4.7% from the 2026 estimate. Petroleum-related revenue is projected at RM61.2 billion, or 16.1% of total federal revenue, assuming average global crude prices remain stable in 2027.
Projected non-tax revenue is RM83.7 billion. Bank Negara Malaysia is expected to contribute RM7 billion, while Khazanah Nasional Bhd. is projected to provide RM3 billion.
The figures were released in Malaysia’s 2027 fiscal estimates on Oct. 9, 2026. The estimates use RM27 billion as Petronas’ expected 2026 payment, while Petronas’ board approved a RM20 billion dividend for 2026 on Feb. 27.
Petronas paid a scheduled RM32.0 billion dividend to the Malaysian government in 2025. The 2027 projection therefore matches the company’s 2025 payment in ringgit terms, but the government has not presented the 2027 figure as a new corporate dividend declaration.
