The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation and Chainlink expect to launch a Collateral AppChain in the first quarter of 2027, aiming to improve continuous collateral management across financial-market systems.

The planned launch moves the project beyond its earlier fourth-quarter 2026 timetable. The platform is designed to address fragmented data and processes that can slow the movement and management of collateral.

Chainlink’s Runtime Environment (CRE) is expected to coordinate interactions between multiple systems and data sources in real time. The AppChain would provide infrastructure for collateral-related information and workflows, with the goal of improving operational efficiency across financial markets.

Collateral management involves handling assets used to support financial obligations. The process includes tracking collateral, assessing its value and coordinating related transactions.

The project was discussed during Sibos 2026 by DTCC’s Dan Doney and Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov. The planned AppChain reflects the broader use of blockchain infrastructure in traditional financial-market operations.

The initiative follows DTCC’s earlier announcement of the planned Collateral AppChain. The next milestone is the expected launch in the first quarter of 2027.
