Nvidia subsidizes cafeteria food but does not provide free meals. Its estimated market value reached $5.769 trillion at 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC) on Oct. 5.

Nvidia employees pay for subsidized cafeteria meals rather than receiving free food, even as the chipmaker’s estimated market value reached $5.769 trillion on Oct. 5.
The company subsidizes cafeteria food, but workers still pay for meals and some drinks. Coffee is generally free, while bottled beverages and drinks from on-site cafés may cost extra.
Available food options have included bagels, sushi, açai bowls, sandwiches, omelettes, butter chicken, ramen, pizza and salad. In 2014, the average meal cost about $6, equivalent to roughly $8.50 today.
The cafeteria policy applies as Nvidia continues to rank among the world’s largest companies by market value. Nvidia’s estimated value stood at $5.769 trillion at 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC) on Oct. 5, exceeding Apple’s by $906 billion.
The Oct. 5 figures represent a single market snapshot, and the gap between the companies can change as share prices move. TokenPost previously covered Nvidia’s market value topping Apple’s by $906 billion.
