Blur Will Shut Down Its Website After Ethereum NFT Volume Falls 99.5%
The marketplace will close its public frontend Nov. 12, while its on-chain protocol remains operational and Blend stops matching new loans.

Blur will shut down its public website Nov. 12 after monthly Ethereum NFT trading volume dropped more than 99.5% from its 2023 peak, marking a sharp contraction for one of the sector’s largest marketplaces.
Monthly volume fell from about $1.43 billion in March 2023 to less than $7 million in March 2026. Blur’s website frontend will close, but its underlying smart-contract marketplace protocol will continue operating on Ethereum.
The shutdown also affects Blend, Blur’s NFT lending service. Blend will stop matching new loans Nov. 12. Borrowers must repay existing loans by that date or allow them to default, while Blur plans to provide a separate withdrawal tool after the website closes.
Blur launched in 2022 and challenged OpenSea with faster transactions, low fees and token incentives. It captured more than 70% of Ethereum NFT trading volume in March 2023, when its monthly volume reached approximately $1.43 billion.
The closure follows a collapse in activity from that peak, while the protocol itself remains available on-chain. The public website and new Blend loan matching are scheduled to end Nov. 12.
