Metaplanet plans to spend about $160 million to repurchase roughly 96.93 million shares, a transaction that would represent approximately 7.1% of its outstanding stock.

The Japanese Bitcoin (BTC) treasury company plans to execute the purchase Oct. 14 through the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s ToSTNeT-3 system. The planned repurchase has not yet been completed, and the actual transaction results are expected to be released the same day.

Metaplanet also approved a maximum share-repurchase authorization of about $380 million for the next year. The program allows the company to buy back as many as 200 million shares, or approximately 14.7% of its outstanding stock.

The planned transaction is part of a major capital-allocation decision by a listed company that maintains Bitcoin as a central treasury asset. The initial repurchase and the broader authorization are separate limits, with the first transaction representing less than half of the maximum program.

Metaplanet’s next concrete step is the scheduled Oct. 14 execution through the Tokyo Stock Exchange system and the release of the completed transaction figures.
