Symbotic acquired German automation company cellumation GmbH, adding software-driven sortation technology to its supply-chain robotics portfolio as it expands in Europe.

The deal brings cellumation’s celluveyor platform into Symbotic’s business. Celluveyor uses software-controlled omnidirectional movement to sort and direct items, replacing traditional conveyor systems.

The acquisition also strengthens Symbotic’s presence in the European market.
