Workday Connects Sana AI Agents to Anthropic’s Claude for Enterprise Tasks
Early-access customers can use Claude to access permitted Workday data and complete supported HR and finance actions under existing permissions, approvals and audit controls.

Workday and Anthropic are connecting Workday’s Sana AI agents and business data with Claude, giving enterprise customers a new way to complete supported human resources and finance tasks while existing controls remain in place.
The Sana in Claude plugin is available to early-access customers. Users can check pay, review time off, find policy answers, submit expenses and manage approvals through Claude, with Workday permissions, business rules, approval requirements and audit trails applying to each request.
Claude and Sana exchange information and tasks through the Model Context Protocol. The plugin is in early access and beta, with general availability expected in late 2026.
The companies also plan to make Workday Agent-Ready Tools available through the Claude plugin later this year. Those tools are already generally available through Workday Extend AI.
The partnership expands an existing commercial relationship. Anthropic uses Workday for finance and people operations, while Workday’s teams use Claude Enterprise and Claude Code.
Sana serves as an AI interface and orchestration layer for human resources, finance and information technology workflows. Workday remains the system governing enterprise data, permissions and approvals, while employees can use external AI interfaces to reach supported functions.
Sana became available worldwide March 17, 2026. More than 5,500 Workday customers used at least one Workday-built AI agent in fiscal 2027’s second quarter, up more than 35% from the previous quarter. The partnership follows Workday’s broader push to make AI a central part of its growth strategy.
“Together, Workday Sana and Claude unlock lawful AI across the enterprise to get real work done,” Gerrit Kazmaier, Workday’s president of product and technology, said.
“HR and finance decisions shape every employee’s pay, role, and career,” Ankur Sinha, Anthropic’s head of engineering, enterprise and verticals, said.
The Agent-Ready Tools are expected to reach the Claude plugin later in 2026, followed by general availability of the Sana in Claude plugin.
