UniCredit Advises on European Water Credit Sandbox on Algorand
The project would record verified water credits on Algorand, with each credit representing one cubic meter of water for potential sustainable-finance applications.

UniCredit is advising Hypercube on a European Water Credit Sandbox that would record verified water credits on the Algorand blockchain for potential use in sustainable finance and capital markets.
Each credit would represent one cubic meter of verified water. The sandbox will examine how these credits could support environmental-finance applications and whether they could serve as the basis for new capital-markets instruments.
The project expands Algorand’s potential environmental use cases. It follows Enel Group’s plan to tokenize solar panels on the network, another initiative connecting blockchain technology with sustainability projects.
The initiative remains at the advisory and sandbox stage. Its focus is on exploring how verified water credits could be recorded on Algorand and used in sustainable-finance applications.
