Nvidia plans to take a minority stake in French medical platform Doctolib, bringing its AI technology further into health care as the companies develop tools for patients and medical professionals. The investment amount and ownership share were not disclosed, and Nvidia will not receive a board seat.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the planned investment in Paris on Oct. 13, describing it as an effort to start an AI revolution in Europe.

The funding is expected to help Doctolib accelerate hiring and develop its own AI models. The company’s patient health assistant is used by 400,000 people in France and is expected to become fully available in 2027.

For health care professionals, Doctolib offers AI tools for disease coding, billing, secretarial tasks and documentation management, including clinical work. Its consultation assistant uses a speech recognition model developed by the company’s own team.

Doctolib plans to bring its AI services to France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, with an intended reach of 100 million patients and 580,000 health care professionals. Those figures describe the potential audience, not current users of its AI tools.

Nvidia specialists are expected to help Doctolib train models in Europe. Doctolib also plans to develop services based on open models in the coming months and has used Nvidia technology for about a year.

Nvidia also named planned investments in three other French startups: Genesis AI, which develops general-purpose robotics; Pigment, a business planning software company; and Entalpic, which works on materials design. The investments were described as plans, not completed transactions.
