Tesla CEO Elon Musk Praises Micron’s Memory Pricing Approach
Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron accounted for a combined 87.6% of global DRAM revenue in the second quarter of 2026.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk praised Micron’s approach to future memory-price discussions and said other suppliers had treated customers poorly.
Musk said Micron had been reasonable in discussions about future memory prices. He added that customers would remember how other suppliers treated them, but did not identify those companies.
Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron led the global DRAM market in the second quarter of 2026, accounting for 39.4%, 24.9% and 23.3% of global DRAM revenue, respectively. Their combined share was 87.6%.
High-bandwidth memory, or HBM, is used in AI accelerators. DRAM also supports servers and other computing systems. The limited number of suppliers with large-scale production capacity can narrow buyers’ options, particularly for HBM.
Micron had signed 26 strategic customer agreements, with arrangements extending through 2030 and covering more than 35% of revenue. The agreements carried $150 billion in remaining performance obligations and $32 billion in customer cash commitments. More than 75% of Micron’s fiscal 2027 output had customer commitments.
