Axon Targets 25% to 30% AI Capacity Gains by the End of 2026

Axon expects artificial intelligence to reduce the labor and organizational capacity needed for product-management, design and software-engineering work by 25% to 30% by the end of 2026, Chief Product and Technology Officer Jeff Kunins said.

Kunins said Axon has set a mandatory 10% productivity-gain target for every team. Teams that exceed 15% may receive stock grants if the broader team also meets the 10% minimum, he said. Axon’s research and development group has about 2,200 employees, Kunins said.

The targets cover work beyond coding. Kunins described an expected reduction in the effort needed across product-management, design and software-engineering work, with the goal set for the end of 2026.

Axon’s Draft One software generates a preliminary police-report narrative from body-camera audio. Axon’s product materials say an officer reviews, edits and approves the draft before submission.

The company reported $904 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2026, up 35% year over year. Software & Services revenue was $398 million, a 36% increase from the same quarter a year earlier.

Axon’s Ethics and Equity Advisory Council advises on the responsible development and deployment of technology, including artificial intelligence.

Kunins also said early Draft One testing surfaced differences in how models described otherwise similar subjects based on race. Axon changed the models after those results, he said.
