Qnity makes specialized chemicals and materials used in semiconductor manufacturing, supporting processes that chipmakers use as the industry’s technology advances.

The company spun off from DuPont nearly a year ago. Its products enable customers’ manufacturing processes and technology roadmaps, Qnity CEO Jon Kemp said.

Qnity’s research and development facility outside Boston has cleanrooms where the company tests materials for semiconductor manufacturers. The company’s scientists also discussed the growing complexity of chipmaking and how specialized materials are prepared for manufacturing.

Kemp described the “power of shrink” as a key to Qnity’s success, adding that the “power of shrink and stack” is becoming increasingly important.
