Orchid Island Capital Sets October Dividend at $0.10 per Share

Orchid Island Capital declared a $0.10-per-share dividend for October and estimated a third-quarter loss of $0.90 per share, including losses on mortgage-backed securities and derivatives.

The specialty finance company estimated its book value at $6.02 per share as of Sept. 30 and its quarterly return on equity at negative 12.5%. The estimated loss includes $1.17 per share in realized and unrealized losses on mortgage-backed securities and derivatives.

The company said the estimates are preliminary and may change after review by its independent auditor.

The October dividend is payable Nov. 27 to shareholders of record Oct. 30. Orchid Island Capital expects to announce its next common-stock dividend on Nov. 10.
