Ripple Survey Finds 69% Stablecoin Payment Interest in Mexico and Brazil
The figure includes current use and plans to adopt within one to two years. Regulatory clarity was the top concern for 48% of financial institutions surveyed.

Finance leaders surveyed in Mexico and Brazil reported strong interest in stablecoins for payments, with 69% already using them or planning adoption within one to two years, while regulatory clarity remained a leading concern.
The survey covered 160 finance leaders headquartered in the two countries and was part of a worldwide study of 1,080 finance decision-makers conducted in January and February 2026. The 69% combines current use with future plans; it does not show the share of businesses in either country using stablecoins today.
The same 69% of respondents reported current or planned stablecoin use for treasury management. The survey also found 66% for stablecoin issuance and 63% for regulated digital-asset custody. Globally, 54% of respondents reported current or planned stablecoin use for payments.
Regulatory clarity was the top concern for 48% of financial institutions surveyed, while 40% cited security and safekeeping. Across all respondents, 39% identified compliance complexity as the top barrier. Among fintech respondents, 28% said they lacked the technical skills to build digital-asset products in-house, compared with 7% in North America.
Brazil’s central bank put rules for virtual-asset service providers into effect Feb. 2, 2026. Resolutions BCB 519, 520 and 521 cover provider authorization and services, along with certain foreign-exchange and international-capital operations.
Separate transaction estimates indicate substantial stablecoin flows involving Mexico. More than $47 billion of the country’s estimated $77.6 billion in crypto activity in the 12 months ending June 30, 2026, came through stablecoins. Monthly stablecoin value on corridors with either endpoint in Mexico reached an estimated $1.8 billion in June. These figures measure transaction activity, not the share of businesses or residents using stablecoins.
The survey provides no separate results for Mexico and Brazil and does not state how its 160 respondents were divided between the countries.
