Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has cut most of its 34-person recruiting support team, with remaining staff slated for investment groups such as growth and crypto that will manage hiring support themselves.

The team had provided recruiting assistance to companies in a16z’s portfolio as a long-standing support service. Most of its members were laid off, while the remaining employees are expected to be reassigned to specialized investment groups.

Under the planned structure, each group will organize its own recruiting support according to its needs. The change moves that work from a centralized team into the individual investment groups. Recruiting support will continue within those groups, including growth and crypto.
