OpenAI UK Turnover Nearly Quadruples to £293 Million in 2025

The subsidiary recorded £20.3 million in after-tax profit. Its cost-plus arrangement means turnover is not a measure of UK customer purchases or global OpenAI sales.

OpenAI's UK subsidiary booked £293 million in 2025 turnover, nearly 3.7 times its 2024 figure, while its cost-plus arrangement limits what the increase says about customer sales.

The accounts cover the year ended Dec. 31, 2025, and were filed Oct. 13. They describe OpenAI UK Ltd, one UK legal entity, rather than the company's global results.

OpenAI UK bills its parent for costs incurred by the subsidiary, with a margin added. That arrangement means the £293 million reflects revenue booked through the parent-company relationship. It does not measure UK customer purchases or OpenAI's global sales.

Research and development spending reached £117.8 million in 2025, up from £48.2 million a year earlier. The increase accompanied a rise in average employment: the subsidiary had 110 employees on average, compared with 55 in 2024.

Staff costs totaled £258 million. That figure included £87.4 million in wages and salaries and £167.8 million in share-based compensation. The separate figures show that equity compensation made up a substantial part of the company's reported staff costs.

OpenAI UK recorded £31.7 million in profit before tax and an £11.4 million tax charge, leaving £20.3 million in profit after tax. Those figures apply to the UK subsidiary and do not represent OpenAI's overall financial results.
