Southwest Airlines plans to release its third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes Oct. 21, with an earnings call scheduled for Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. ET (14:00 UTC). Its July forecast set adjusted earnings at 50 cents to 75 cents per share.

The third-quarter outlook also projected available seat miles, a measure of capacity, would be down 1% to flat from a year earlier. Revenue per available seat mile was forecast to grow 17.5% to 19.5%, while CASM-X growth was projected at 3.5% to 4%.

The forecast used a fuel-cost range of $3.70 to $3.75 per gallon, based on the forward fuel curve as of July 17. It assumed fare conditions and demand trends would remain broadly intact. These estimates were part of the outlook Southwest issued with its second-quarter results in July.

Southwest reported second-quarter net income of $233 million, or 47 cents per diluted share. On an adjusted basis, net income was $465 million, or 94 cents per share. The quarter ended June 30. The third-quarter forecast is for adjusted earnings, so the comparable second-quarter figure is 94 cents, rather than the 47-cent GAAP result.

The company’s July full-year 2026 forecast put adjusted earnings at $3.25 to $4.25 per share, replacing its prior expectation of at least $4. Southwest is due to release its third-quarter results after the market closes Oct. 21 and hold its call the following morning.
