Replit CEO Says Company Has Ended Its Work With Anthropic
Amjad Masad cited cost, partnership considerations and performance as enterprise contracts grew to 15% of revenue, up from 2% last year.

Replit CEO and co-founder Amjad Masad said Thursday that the AI coding company has stopped working with Anthropic, citing cost, partnership considerations and model performance as reasons for the decision.
“I think ChatGPT is better now,” Masad said. He said Replit uses benchmarks to assess models and that its public testing showed Sol and Astra performed better at building applications from scratch.
Claude Fable 5 and Claude Fable 5.1 remained listed as models running in Replit Agent’s production environment in late September. A Replit employee also discussed using Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 around that time, leaving a gap between those references and Masad’s statement about the company’s current relationship with Anthropic.
Masad said enterprise contracts made up about 15% of Replit’s revenue this year, up from about 2% last year. He added that business-to-business revenue accounted for more than half of the total, but did not disclose annual recurring revenue.
The announcement follows Masad’s earlier argument for keeping flexibility among AI model providers.
