Six Malaysian semiconductor designs were presented at AiSEM@Selangor 2026 on Oct. 16 as the country seeks to expand its role in chip design and other higher-value work.

Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir put their combined estimated sales potential at RM300 million. He gave no timeframe for reaching that amount.

SkyeChip’s MARS1000 is an edge-AI processor for cameras, robots and factory systems. MaiStorage’s aiDAPTIV+ is an AI storage solution for computers and servers, while Silicon X’s field-programmable gate array (FPGA) targets industrial and automotive uses.

The other products address control systems. Alphaswift Industries developed FC Mini, a drone flight controller; Infinecs Systems developed Maxwell, an automotive power regulator; and Weeroc Space developed Conan, a power controller for satellites and other space systems.

Nasrullah identified customer adoption, industry qualification and commercial scale-up as next steps for the designs.

Malaysia’s National Semiconductor Strategy aims to develop 110 local companies in higher-value semiconductor activities, including chip design, advanced packaging and equipment. It also targets training and upskilling 60,000 high-skilled Malaysian engineers.

Malaysia established its inaugural IC design park in Puchong in August 2024, then added a Cyberjaya location in November 2025. No deadline was set for the six designs to reach their estimated sales potential.
