Hong Kong’s IPO market recorded 115 company listings in the first nine months of 2026 as sponsor workload pressures eased and the three largest underwriters accounted for 42% of underwriting volume.

The SFC said on Tuesday, Oct. 13, that measures of pressure on listing sponsors had declined.

The five most active sponsors handled 65% of pending listing applications in September, down from 77% at the start of the year. The number of strained signing principals fell 78%. The SFC defines a strained principal as one who supervises or participates in six or more active listing engagements.

The SFC warned that opaque arrangements tied to IPOs and post-listing activity could generate suspicious orders, artificially inflate demand for IPO shares or facilitate potentially manipulative trading after a listing.
